      A. Website Analytics To understand how many people visit our site and which pages are popular, we use a self-hosted, privacy-focused analytics tool.

      • No personal data: We do not track individual users across the web, and we do not collect your raw IP address for analytics.
      • Self-hosted: Because we host data analytics ourselves, this data stays entirely on our own servers. We never sell or share your analytics data with third parties (like Google or Meta).
      • Legal basis: Legitimate Interest (understanding our website traffic to improve our product).

      B. Server Logs and Security Our website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. To route traffic and protect our site from cyberattacks (like DDoS attacks), Cloudflare automatically processes standard web server logs.

      • What is collected: IP addresses, network routing information, and timestamps.
      • Legal basis: Legitimate Interest (maintaining the security and technical operation of our website).

      C. GlobalQuake Application When you use the GlobalQuake application, the software connects to our servers strictly to fetch live data and check for the latest software updates (via a single JSON file).

      • What is collected: Your IP address.
      • How it is used: Your IP address is processed automatically for rate-limiting purposes to protect our infrastructure from abuse and denial-of-service (DoS) attacks. It is also used momentarily to route the update file to your device. We do not use this data to identify you or track your usage habits.
      • Legal basis: Legitimate Interest (ensuring the security, stability, and availability of our network infrastructure).

      3. How We Share Your Data

      We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We only share data with infrastructure providers that are strictly necessary to operate our website:

      • Cloudflare: Provides our hosting, content delivery network (CDN), and security infrastructure.

      Because our analytics are self-hosted on our own virtual private server (VPS) provided by Netcup in Nuremberg, Germany, no third-party analytics company has access to your website usage data.

      4. Cookies

      Security and Performance Cookies (Strictly Necessary)

      We use Cloudflare as our website security and performance provider. To protect our website from malicious cyberattacks, automated bot traffic, and spam, Cloudflare places necessary cookies (such as __cf_bm and _cfuvid) on your device. These cookies do not store any personally identifiable information, cannot be disabled, and are strictly necessary for the technical operation and safety of our website.       Functional Local Storage

      Our website utilizes your browser's Local Storage strictly to remember your user interface preferences (such as your choice of Light or Dark Mode) and to optimize page navigation. This data is stored entirely on your device, is never transmitted to our servers, and contains no personal or tracking data.

      5. Data Retention

      We only keep data for as long as necessary:

      • Analytics data is aggregated and kept for up to 24 months before being deleted.
      • Server logs processed by Cloudflare are generally kept for a very short period (typically a few days) strictly for security monitoring.
      • Rate-Limiting (In-Memory): IP addresses processed by GlobalQuake servers for real-time rate-limiting are held temporarily in server memory for the duration of active connections and are automatically discarded once the connection or rate-limit window expires.
      • Server Debug Logs: IP addresses may also be recorded in our server debug logs, which are used strictly for technical troubleshooting, diagnostics, and abuse prevention. These debug logs are retained for a maximum of 30 days before being securely deleted.

      • Right to Rectification: You can ask us to correct inaccurate data.
